Trader Joe's Website was officially updated to feature the new storefront in Meridian Township at Grand River Avenue and Northwind Drive. Meridian Township staff do not have knowledge related to the opening date of the Meridian Township store. Trader Joe's employee's have stated they will publicly announce the opening when the time is right.
May 2024
Site exterior building envelope is essentially complete since April and the project crew has completed several items on the required lists for interior work. A continuation of inspections will occur until all final required inspections are passed. With no occupancy permits issued, only fully hired staff of the site are allowed on premises.

A delivery of steel can be seen on the project site, with vertical construction underway.
October 2023
Construction activity resumes on the project site
August 24, 2023
The Township has issued a new building permit for shell construction on the specialty grocery site. The permit was issued to a new contractor working directly for the final operator of the site.
Construction is expected to resume on October 2, 2023. We will provide an update once construction is underway.
January 20, 2023
Given the supply chain issues the project has run into, the contractor has opted to not work through the winter, but instead protect the foundations that were already in place.
The contractor requested a permit extension, which the Building Official granted, with the anticipation of resuming construction on April 3.
More information will be known once the winter months have concluded.
October 2022
The development project hit a delay in construction due to supply chain demand issues. The development is still planned to complete construction as construction permits are approved.
August 2022
The development project has a 15 - 18 month construction timeline. We are hoping to open doors in the summer of 2023. Work on the site has slowed due to material supply that was purchased by the developer. Concrete foundations have been poured and work will resume when materials are available.
March 2022
Demolition permits were approved the week of March 4, 2022 for the commencement of the project. Full construction should begin weather permitting in 2022 with project completion 2023. Certificate of occupancy for the building will be granted upon successful inspection review with Meridian Township staff.
