Weekday Warriors

Okemos Library Native Garden Weeding

Join us at the Okemos Capital Area Library (4321 Okemos Rd., Okemos) in their native garden to pull invasive weeds and tend to the native plants. We are also looking to potentially recruit a volunteer to help maintain the library native garden regularly, so we will train any volunteers that are interested in learning how! No experience is necessary, and all tools, gloves, and supplies are provided.  Volunteers may have to walk over uneven terrain and possibly over curbs. Join us at the library to connect, learn, and conserve!

Weekday Warriors occur every other week from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm at a different location. Help the Meridian Conservation Corps restore habitat across our parks and preserves through activities like invasive plant removal and sowing native seeds. Stewardship workdays are a great way to get outdoors and improve our community!

Participants are encouraged to pre-register but walk-ins are welcome. To register, or for more information, please contact Land Stewardship Coordinator Emma Campbell at ecampbell@meridian.mi.us or call at 517.853.4614. All workdays are outdoors and may be canceled due to inclement weather. If you would like to join the Meridian Conservation Corps to receive email updates on future stewardship events and get MCC swag, visit the Meridian Conservation Corps webpage to sign up.
