(LOCATION UPDATE)

Two Event Locations - Please Read Description!

Join us at Harris Nature Center and Lake Legg Park for our special Earth Day Stewardship Saturday. This Earth Day event is our Pull-Pizza-Plant event! This event will be split up into three parts:

  • Pulling invasive mustards at Harris Nature Center (3998 Van Atta Rd.) from 9:30 am - 12:00 pm
  • Enjoying delicious pizza at the Harris Nature Center pavilion from 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm
  • Pulling invasive mustards at Legg Park (3900 Van Atta Rd.) from 1:30 pm - 3:30 pm

We will be pulling invasive mustards in order to preserve the diversity of native wildflowers growing in these areas. We will also learn about spring ephemerals (native wildflowers) and why these sensitive areas should be protected and stewarded. All tools are provided, and no experience is necessary. Please dress appropriately for the weather and wear closed-toed shoes.

Stewardship Saturdays typically occur every other Saturday from 9:30 am to 12:00 pm at a different location in the township. Help the Meridian Conservation Corps restore habitat across our parks and preserves through activities like invasive plant removal and sowing native seeds. Stewardship workdays are a great way to get outdoors and improve our community!

Participants are encouraged to pre-register but walk-ins are welcome. To register, or for more information, please contact Land Stewardship Coordinator Emma Campbell at ecampbell@meridian.mi.us or call at 517.853.4614. All workdays are outdoors and may be canceled due to inclement weather. If you would like to join the Meridian Conservation Corps to receive email updates on future stewardship events and get MCC swag, visit the Meridian Conservation Corps webpage to sign up.
