Stewardship Saturday

Invasive Mustard Pull

Join us at Eastgate Park (4203 Meridian Road) for our Stewardship Saturday from 9:30 am to 12 pm. Please note that Grand River is closed at Meridian Road, so you will need to go around out to Jolly to access Eastgate Park on Meridian Road (sorry about that, but nothing will stop us from stewarding!!) We will pull mustards that we find, cut privet, as well as survey for Lesser Celandine (Ficaria verna), which is a priority invasive species that has been popping up since February. We will learn about spring ephemerals (native wildflowers) and why these sensitive areas should be protected. All tools are provided, and no experience is necessary. Please dress appropriately for the weather and wear closed-toed shoes.

Stewardship Saturdays occur every other Saturday from 9:30 am to 12:00 pm at a different location. Help the Meridian Conservation Corps restore habitat across our parks and preserves through activities like invasive plant removal and sowing native seeds. Stewardship workdays are a great way to get outdoors and improve our community!

Participants are encouraged to pre-register but walk-ins are welcome. To register, or for more information, please contact Land Stewardship Coordinator Emma Campbell at ecampbell@meridian.mi.us or call at 517.853.4614. All workdays are outdoors and may be canceled due to inclement weather. If you would like to join the Meridian Conservation Corps to receive email updates on future stewardship events and get MCC swag, visit the Meridian Conservation Corps webpage to sign up.
