Stewardship Saturday

Native Seed Sowing

Join us at Tihart Preserve for winter seed sowing of native species! Volunteers have worked hard this season collecting native seeds from local parks and preserves, sorting the seeds and prepping them for planting. We will cut back vegetation, rake the area clean to expose soil, and sow the seeds for next years' growth. This diversification of an old farm field will benefit wildlife, insects, and humans for generations to come! All tools are provided, and no experience is necessary. Please dress appropriately for the weather and wear close-toed shoes. Come connect, learn and conserve with us!

Stewardship Saturdays occur every other Saturday from 9:30 am to 12:00 pm at a different location. Help the Meridian Conservation Corps restore habitat across our parks and preserves through activities like invasive plant removal and sowing native seeds. Stewardship workdays are a great way to get outdoors and improve our community!

Participants are encouraged to pre-register but walk-ins are welcome. To register, or for more information, please contact Land Stewardship Coordinator Emma Campbell at ecampbell@meridian.mi.us or call at 517.853.4614. All workdays are outdoors and may be canceled due to inclement weather. If you would like to join the Meridian Conservation Corps to receive email updates on future stewardship events and get MCC swag, visit the Meridian Conservation Corps webpage to sign up.
