Spring Recycling Day

On Saturday, April 26 from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm, residents in the Capital Area can safely recycle their unwanted items at the Meridian Township Farmers' Market (1995 Central Park Drive, Okemos) for the annual Spring Recycling Day. Recycled items will be collected in the parking lot.

Accepted Items:
  • Metals: Washers, dryers, stoves, water heaters, mowers, snow blowers, bikes, and bike parts.
    • Air conditioners, small fridges/freezers, and dehumidifiers may be eligible for a rebate.*
    • *Consumers Energy customers should bring a copy of their utility bill.  $10 donation suggested for non-Consumers customers with Items containing coolant/Freon.
  • Document Shredding: Staples, paper clips and small spiral binders accepted, confidential locked storage until shredded.
  • Paint: Latex only. $1/qt. can, $3/gal. can, $15/bucket. Please keep in original can, don't mix colors. Can be liquid or dry.
  • Egg Cartons: Dozen-size egg cartons only.
Non-Accepted Items:
  • No gasoline, oil, or light bulbs in metal appliances. No oil-based paint or stains. Contact Ingham County Health for information about hazardous waste at 517.887.4312.
  • No x-rays, large 3-ring binders, large binder clips, VHS tapes, or CDs. 
  • Visit midmichrecycles.org for where to recycle these items.
